Recuperatology™ 101

Since the 1990’s and especially now, we have been going way too fast: technology seems to be quite often, non user friendly and can freeze because of too much data at a time; plus, so much data, from information to a plethora of short videos with sensationalism, passing by social media (which can have trolls and scrolling stealing our precious time) is making our mind not getting a breather. The usual work, annual leave, holidays, home chores, transport logistics, raising families on a 24/7 for decades as we can, also within a strict schooling system; add to that, dealing with many social surroundings demanding an ongoing adaptation for a smoother run brings much mental health unbalance in many people, from adults to younger ones. But, we can reverse that trend in some ways.

Indeed, recuperatology™ as I call it, so the “recovery of exertion, be it mental or/and physical by simplifying one’s momentum” is a must. It is the core of the gillonium system, fortified with “gillonium doses” made of powerfully efficient metaphors and Be the nest! concepts. The beauty of that? YOU can shape it as you wish to fit your personality, identity, surroundings!

Like it or not, machines and AI may help us for some hard demanding or convoluted big tasks BUT let us not fool ourselves here. Machines DO NOT deal with the daily necessary functions and responsibilities in a lifetime that the humans have to put up with, even endure, when proving to be very challenging. We, unlike them or AI, have to, on an everyday basis, eat, sleep, get dressed, work, learn, adapt to what life do throw at us from accidents even errors (not always from the humans per se) to many children’s tantrums; add to that the fact that we do age, get injured, and have no armor or special defense (s) like many animals tough do have, against a very beautiful even holistic in its cycles planet, but a predatory one nevertheless.

As for mental health, which again, any information technology and AI do not deal within themselves, from emotions to feelings and how to try to mix and match other people’s moods of the day, to mention one example per se, does underline that to be human is very tough and courageous indeed. So, as we do way more than the technology we have, organic and polyvalence wise, with a mind to keep sane within our years, we must take care of ourselves and each other when one must, humanly!

How can we recuperate even get some balance and rest in this whirling society of ours?

First of all, as reminded by my wife, Claire, WE do control our time and space. It is true. Even in a small way, within our working day or when doing chores, we CAN slow down within our area. We just need to stop, take a few breaths then apply the first lessons I learned myself long ago and which I phrased in simple but mighty metaphors anyone can apply now, like:

Everything takes time, even instant coffee!

So, why rushing? Apart for an emergency, we do not need to. Simple, right?

Also: perfection does not exist, to do your best is the ONLY perfection.

Learn them well and use it naturally within your daily tasks by speaking to yourself to understand them. Do it as many times, daily, as suddenly the penny will drop and you will be able, to apply them effortlessly. It becomes a habit. Once it brings you such a better balance in yourself, it does worth it.

You may use more of these simple but powerful metaphors on the Gillonium Doses page.

And at last but not least, recuperatology™ must also be expressed within your physicality somehow: be it painting, drawing, gardening, reading a real book (not on a screen if you can), having a cup of coffee or tea and positively take the moment, write, lighting up an incense, having a safe walk, flower arranging, knitting, crochet, cooking, learning a language, tennis, pickleball, bird watching in your garden or park, singing, football…whatever rocks your boat. Holistically express yourself! And make sure it is pleasurable: do not make is like a chore. If not possible as a career yet or per se, then do so in your private life! Shape your recuperatology way within your nature. It is ALL about balance. No exceptions. Just be kind to yourself: you deserve it.

And to tie it all? Speak to someone that enjoys your being. A family member, a friend, a close acquaintance. If not there at the needed moment, a holistic group that you may belong to, be it in art or gardening as examples, where one may share a good talk. Humans are not wired to be alone. Besides, AI, from mid to long term, will not have a listening hear with empathy, compassion or love, because they have not got it. No programmed algorithm can do so as you cannot map feelings and emotions, as well as organic logistics to deal with pain. So be it; do communicate. On the terrain, face to face is always best but if not available, a text, an e mail, a WhatsApp message or even better a phone call, any can do it all. It is time to crush non wanted pressures, to not be part of an unrealistic rat race, to claim back time which is the most precious commodity. Are you in?

Nota bene to yourself. One way to reconnect to ourselves I do use when needed: go to a mirror when alone. Look straight into the mirror in a relaxed composed way. And ask yourself:  how are you?  How do you feel lately?  Do you need some inner rest and true TLC? Then thank your soul and as much, your body for what it daily did for years. To finish, breathe in and out, slowly a few times, smile and just be.

Bonne chance!
